Beta FirmwareUpdated 2 hours ago
Beta firmware is currently available for all Wattbike models
Beta firmware deployment is controlled through the Wattbike Hub app and must be explicitly enabled before installation. To enable Beta firmware:
- Open the Wattbike Hub app
- Navigate to Preferences
- Select Device Firmware
- Set Beta to ON and press Save
After Beta firmware is enabled, the next successful connection between the Wattbike and the Hub app will trigger an automated prompt to install the available Beta firmware package.
Important: Beta firmware provides early access to firmware updates that are still undergoing validation. While supported, Beta releases may contain incomplete features or behaviour changes compared to standard (production) firmware. Users requiring maximum stability should remain on standard firmware.
Verifying Beta firmware installation
To confirm that the Beta firmware update has been successfully applied:
- Open Settings in the Wattbike Hub app
- Select Known Wattbikes
- Choose the relevant Wattbike and scroll to the Firmware section
Beta firmware versions are identifiable by their version number, which will always begin with 60. If the firmware version starts with 60, the Wattbike is running Beta firmware.
Rolling back from Beta firmware to standard firmware
Rollback from Beta firmware to stable firmware is controlled via the Wattbike Hub app by disabling the Beta firmware channel. No manual firmware file selection is required.
Rollback procedure
- Open the Wattbike Hub app
- Navigate to Preferences
- Select Device Firmware
- Set Beta to OFF and press Save
After Beta is disabled, reconnect the Wattbike to the Hub app. On the next successful connection, the app will evaluate the installed firmware against the current production (non‑Beta) firmware and, if required, prompt an update back to the standard firmware channel.
Verifying rollback completion
To confirm the Wattbike is no longer running Beta firmware:
- Go to Settings in the Wattbike Hub app
- Select Known Wattbikes
- Choose the Wattbike and scroll to Firmware
Standard (production) firmware versions do not start with 60.
If the firmware version does not begin with 60, the Wattbike is no longer on Beta firmware.
