The Climb Mode feature is available to use with the Wattbike Atom (first and next generation) and Wattbike AtomX smart trainers. Our other products do not currently support the Climb Mode feature, as the internal resistance mechanism is different from the smart resistance offered by the AtomX and Wattbike Atom.
The Wattbike Atom and AtomX are able to make frequent automatic resistance changes because of their powerful, smart, electromagnetic resistance. This enables the bike to adjust the resistance based on the current gradient and rider weight, replicating the experience of riding up a hill in the real world.
As the virtual gradient increases, the climb feels more challenging and more power is required to maintain the same speed, just like in real life. If you maintain the same constant power as the gradient increases, your speed will reduce.
Similarly, as the virtual gradient decreases, the climb feels easier and less power is required to maintain the same speed. If you maintain the same constant powers as the gradient decreases, your speed will increase. There are a number of climbs available to ride on the Wattbike Hub app, and Climb Mode is supported on a number of third party apps including Zwift.
