Does my Wattbike need a Service?Updated 3 hours ago
Regular servicing is essential to keep your Wattbike performing at its best. Proper maintenance ensures accuracy, safety and longevity, especially if your bike is used frequently or under high power conditions. Below are key indicators that your Wattbike may need attention, along with guidance on servicing frequency and what to expect.
How to Know Your Wattbike Needs a Service
- Unusual noises: All Wattbikes make some noise due to the chain, but if the sound changes or becomes unusual, report it and arrange a service.
- Different ride feel: If the bike feels different to ride, such as vibrations through the feet, hands, or saddle, it may indicate internal issues.
- Visible damage: If the bike appears damaged or worn externally, it is likely that internal components are also in need of some care and replacement.
Recommended Servicing Frequency
- Minimum: Service your Wattbike at least once every two years to maintain smooth operation.
- Frequent use: If ridden 3–5 times per week, plan for annual servicing after the initial warranty period has expired.
- High power output: Internal components will wear more quickly with higher average power outputs.
- Poor maintenance: If proper maintenance is not followed, external consumable parts will deteriorate faster. See your user guide for maintenance advice.
What Can You Expect to Be Checked or Changed
- We cannot guarantee specific parts will be replaced. If you are concerned about a particular component, please contact our team before booking.
- The internal primary drive chain will be inspected and likely replaced as this ensures correct force transfer to the strain gauge, which records your power output.
- We endeavour to troubleshoot and diagnose issues to the best of our ability remotely; however, there may be instances where initial diagnostics differ from those made in person by our trained engineers. In such cases if the bike is required to be returned to our HQ for further repair, any logistical fees will still apply and you will only be charged for the work and parts that are required.
What Cannot Be Completed On-Site
- Power accuracy checks for smart bikes and strain gauge recalibration cannot be performed on-site. These require specialised calibration machines only available at our HQ in Nottingham.
- Frame damage (e.g., corroded, snapped, or sheared bolts) must be addressed at our HQ and may incur additional labour charges.
